A. First of all, please know that we are not estate planners and hope that you will be consulting a professional planner or your lawyer, But you will find suggestions and tips to help you in a our brochure entitled  “Charitable Bequests”

Q. What's the best way to give shares of stock without taking a tax "bath"?

Yes, you can actually transfer those shares (which are technically called “appreciated assets”) to Faith and you will receive the value of the shares at the time of the gift as a potential tax deduction while not having to pay capital gains taxes on their growth. A. All investment and banking accounts provide for you to designate a "beneficiary" who will receive those assets at the time of the owners death.  Our brochure "Beneficiary Designations" will provide more information.
